Booty bargains.

Monday morning and we decided to go to the annual car boot sale in Liskeard.

A lot smaller than usual, we did manage to pick up a few bargains. These 3 beautiful teddies, I just couldnt leave them sat on the grass looking so destitute, especially at 50p each. I was lucky to spot some blue gingham curtains again 50p which will look great in the kitchen, and a book on saltdough for my friend Lisa who wants to try out something new.

About 3 years ago at the same car boot I bought a small round ceramic lid, which just took my eye I paid £1.50 for it. A few months later I decided to do some research on line to see what it was. It turned out to be a pot lid, some of which can be quite valuable. Anyway to cut a long story short I put it on Ebay with a £50 reserve as I had bought it because I liked it. 10 days later and with a last minute flurry of bids it achieved £1583.

Alas no such finds this year, but I live in hope.

Auction addicts!

Its been a long time since, I went to our local auction house in Tavistock, but it was well worth the wait.

I love auctions, as does my good friend and neighbour Dilly. So off we set bright and early to claim our spot, cheque books poised and bidding finger well warmed up.

We were not disappointed! 2 hours later we were driving home wondering what on earth our husbands would make of our latest treasure. ( Another thing we have in common, husbands who dont appreciate our bargains)

I picked up a shelf unit for my daughters bedroom, which I couldnt wait to work my magic on, 2 chairs for the breakfast room ( another ongoing project), and a pine shelf with a couple of drawers. This is destined for the kitchen to put my enamel cannisters and Cath Kidston mugs on.

All in all a pretty good day.

Easter workshop

This afternoon the children and I have been to a local church for a childrens easter workshop. It was great, they made marbled ink eggs, egg decorations to hang on twigs, easter cards and the such.

It was lovely seeing all the children so involved at such a special time in the Christian calendar. A lovely tradition at the church is to get the children to decorate a wooden cross with foliage and flowers.

The afternoon finished with a short service, an Easter egg hunt and lovely home made cakes etc for everyone.

We all agreed it was great fun and we were so glad we went.

Snazzy Jars

Another creative idea in the making. I am now collecting all different kinds of glass jars with intention of making some " Memory Jars " amongst other things.

As with all my creative ideas they look fantastic in my minds eye, but often lose something in the transition to reality. I think I must have a loose wire in my arms somewhere, it all leaves my brain fine but then the signal must be diverted somewhere en route.

Anyway undeterred I have prepared some jars to experiment on, so am looking forward to starting that later in the week. Hopefully by then my new toy will have arrived a "Big Bite 2" so I will be able to play to my hearts content.

Meet Alfie

Mad dog Alfie as he is affectionately known is a cross breed cutie, whose Dad was a Jack Russell and his Mum a Bichon Frise.
He is so fluffy and curly we think he may have some sheep relatives in there somewhere.

It is very fortunate for Alfie that he is such a handsome chap, and that we love him unconditionally, because he is such a mischievious character.

No doubt more of that to come, for now I`ll let you just admire the 5th member of our family.

Boo`s Sunny Day

This picture is called " Boo`s Sunny Day" and was presented to me by my youngest.
I love this picture it captures the feeling of spring sunshine and makes me smile.

It seems appropriate for this to be our first post as it has been a beautiful day today, so beautiful we just had to say thank you in our prayers tonight.
Lets hope the sunshine lasts for the Easter holidays all 2 1/2 weeks of them......!!!!!
